Flick Log Cabin

On Monday September 27, 2021, I  spent the morning at Caddie Woodlawn park which is located on Highway 25 between Menomonee and Durand, WI.  This park contains Caddie Woodlawn’s childhood home and the Flick Log Cabin.  I chose to draw the Log cabin which sits on a lawn with corn fields behind it and both corn and soybean fields beside it.

The cabin was built in the 1870s and lived in by the Flick Brothers until 1969.  Inside it has a kitchen that once included a wood stove, cellar, and loft bedroom. It also has a back door and back porch. And there is a separate outhouse.  It  was early fall and the leaves were just beginning to change colors.

Inside, there is a poster with information about the cabin and about the family that lived and farmed on this property. I found the poster to be very interesting.
