Looking South from Columbia University Bridge

This sketch was done during an outing with the NYC Urban Sketchers in 2014. The vantage point is the midpoint on a pedestrian bridge crosing a major avenue. This sketch represents one of my first attempts of mixing markers and pencils in the same drawing. I had a close up view of the stop light hanging almost right in front of me. It is always fun to look down a street and see how rapidly items you “know” are the same size seem to shrink. In this scene, at each city block, repetive items like street lights become half as big.
